Well & Groundwater Services in Buckeye, Arizona

Buckeye is one of the fastest-growing cities in the United States, expanding rapidly into the western Maricopa County desert. Long an agricultural community dependent on groundwater and Colorado River irrigation deliveries, Buckeye is now a rapidly developing suburban city — but significant areas remain on private well water, particularly in the agricultural fringes and the transitional zones where new development meets legacy ranch land.

Two licensed contractors serve the Buckeye area, covering both the drilling and pump service needs of this rapidly changing community.

Groundwater in the Buckeye Area

Buckeye sits in the western portion of the Phoenix AMA’s Salt River Valley sub-basin, with groundwater occurring in the same multilayered alluvial sediments as the rest of the Phoenix metro. However, the Buckeye area has some distinct characteristics:

  • Arsenic: The western Maricopa County area, including Buckeye, has elevated naturally occurring arsenic in some wells. ADEQ and ADWR data show exceedances of the 10 µg/L EPA MCL in this zone at higher frequency than central Phoenix. Test every new well.
  • PFAS: Luke Air Force Base’s PFAS groundwater plume extends primarily to the northwest (toward Goodyear and Litchfield Park), but Buckeye’s proximity means awareness is warranted. Check ADEQ’s current PFAS plume map before drilling.
  • Typical well depths: 450–900 feet; slightly deeper than central Phoenix due to basin characteristics in this area.
  • TDS: 800–1,600 mg/L; water treatment is essential.

Agriculture Meets Suburbia

Buckeye’s agricultural heritage means the area has many legacy irrigation wells alongside newer domestic wells. Contractors working here are experienced with both sectors. Agricultural wells are typically larger (8–12 inch casing, higher horsepower pumps) and serve very different demand patterns than residential systems.
